Ben Washington Baptist Church is the newest member of Irving ISD’s Partners in Education family. On January 15, the district hosted a special signing ceremony to celebrate the church’s support of Davis Elementary School. The two neighbors united earlier this school year through a relationship initiated by the church’s pastor, Darrell Sneed. The union, in many ways, is a full circle moment for the Bear Creek community. The school’s namesake, Ms. Josey O. Davis, was a founding member of the church which is known as the first African American Baptist church in Irving formed in 1941.
