Students and staff were welcomed virtually on the first day of school by the district’s Board of Trustees:
- President A.D. Jenkins
- Vice President Nell Anne Hunt
- Secretary Randy Randle
- Pam Campbell
- Tony Grimes
- Nuzhat Hye
- Dr. Rosemary Robbins
Each Trustee shared a message of hope, encouraging #myIrvingISD to stay strong through these unprecedented times.
President A.D. Jenkins began the video acknowledging the concerns of many about returning to school but reassured everyone that the district’s top priority is the safety of students and staff. Dr. Rosemary Robbins, a former educator and long-time advocate of the district, closed out the video by encouraging all to wear face masks, practice social distancing and, most importantly, to grant yourself and others grace.
Although Monday, August 17, looked very different from previous Irving ISD first days of school, the Board of Trustees’ messages had a commonality – we will get through this together because we are ALL #IISDGameChangers!
