Irving ISD has named Brown Elementary School and Irving High School the Campus Beautification Project winners for the 2021-2022 school year.
Every year, the district’s parent engagement department chooses two campuses as the Beautification Project winners. Winners are chosen based upon an application, and they receive $5,000 to “beautify” an area of their building needing extra attention.
Irving High and Brown Elementary have chosen to pour their winnings into the teachers’ lounge. They will replace the mismatched, worn out furniture with comfy and stylish seating. The funds will also go toward more counter space and kitchen equipment such as coffee makers, refrigerators and microwaves.
These small renovations will make a huge difference for the teachers.
Brown Elementary’s application stated their excitement about the possibility of the new and improved space. “The new lounge/workroom would be the happening place to be – a place to relax, rejuvenate, get their creativity moving and give them a place to work more efficiently and effectively. A better workroom/lounge area would ultimately show our faculty members and volunteers that they are supported in all their efforts they make to help make our community better tomorrow.”
Brown Elementary and Irving High were met with a bouquet of balloons and the announcement that they were named the Beautification Project winners on Monday afternoon.
