Irving ISD students swept the competition at the UIL Academics and Speech/Debate District Meet last week, garnering gold and bronze sweepstakes trophies and more than 40 regional qualifications.
Led by five first-place team finishes and 16 top-three individual finishes, MacArthur won the meet overall. Irving High finished third-place team overall, with 12 students medaling in addition to one gold team finish. Nimitz will be represented by two individual qualifiers.
