Cheers and chants filled the Toyota Music Factory on Thursday morning, August 15 as Irving Independent School District (ISD) celebrated the start of the 2019 school year with the annual district convocation. Hosted by Irving High School’s theatre teacher Shawn Brentham, the meeting was set up like a talk show with Brentham interacting with students and interviewing the Superintendent Magda Hernández. The theme of the convocation was ‘Dream Big.’ Hernández shared that her dream for this upcoming school year is for Irving ISD to be the best district in the nation. Hernández then shared with the audience all the ways that Irving ISD has improved this past school year.
