Irving ISD is excited to announce the expansion of the district’s PreK program. Beginning August 2020, Irving ISD will offer free, full-day PreK for qualifying four-year-olds at every elementary school. Pierce, Clifton and Kinkeade, the district’s early childhood campuses, will continue tuition-based PreK and will also offer free, half-day PreK to three-year-olds who qualify.
Jennifer McKee, director of early childhood programs for Irving ISD, believes this expansion is exactly what is needed for our younger children. “When you walk into a PreK classroom at any Irving ISD school, you are going to see educators inspiring our youngest scholars,” she says. “Our teachers will provide enriching experiences to help all students meet their fullest potential in a secure, caring and exciting learning environment.”
Every PreK classroom will be equipped with age-appropriate materials to encourage exploration, interactive play, independence and self-discovery. Students will have access to a full library, counseling services and a nurse’s clinic.
And most importantly, students will be taught by a dedicated team of certified teachers and instructional teaching assistants, making the classroom ratio 11 students to 1 teacher.
