Over the weekend Irving ISD hosted the 5th annual invitational academic decathlon meet at Nimitz High School. More than 500 students from 29 campuses across the state competed virtually and in person. The meet consisted of seven objective tests – math, music, social science, art, literature, economics and science – with an additional super quiz relay. During the awards ceremony, former Nimitz High School teacher and academic decathlon coach, Greg Jackson, was presented with a plaque for his service, and the invitational was named in his honor.
