Farine Elementary teacher Catalina Vargas was recently inspired to revive the girls’ restroom on her hall after seeing a post online. A trend that’s currently sweeping the nation, and Irving ISD, is displaying affirmations in the school restrooms. Positive affirmations have been known to help students gain confidence, contribute to a growth mindset and improve class performance. After getting the full support of her principal, Norma Gonzalez-Perez, Vargas enlisted the help of some of her students, and their parents, to make her passion project a reality.
