For the second consecutive year, the Irving ISD Purchasing Department has been named a winner of the 2024 Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations, awarded by the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO). The Award of Merit was established in 2009 to recognize Texas school districts that are committed to following professional standards in the acquisition of goods and services.
Each year, volunteers with the TASBO Purchasing & Supply Management Research Committee evaluate the award criteria to ensure it represents the latest best practices. They then review new and recertification applications. For 2024, only 77 recipients met the stringent criteria to qualify for the award. With 1,200 School Districts in the State of Texas, this is truly a prestigious award.
“I am so grateful for the hard work and dedication of our Purchasing team,” says Superintendent Magda Hernandez. “This group of committed individuals streamline purchasing procedures for our district and set the standard for how to utilize taxpayer dollars. I am proud to see this talent and dedication receiving recognition at the state level.”
Members of the district’s purchasing team were honored at an awards reception on February 21 during the 2024 TASBO annual conference in Houston.
