Two Singley Academy Destination Imagination teams, Baddies at Law and Spectacular Spectacles, recently competed in the Global Finals. Both teams earned first place in their respective categories and received the prestigious High Instant Challenge Award, which recognizes teams that excel in spontaneous challenges throughout the tournament.

Baddies at Law
Improv Challenge – “Are We There Yet?”
To prepare for this challenge, students researched both real-world destinations and fictional locations from classic movies and novels. At the competition, they were assigned two of those locations and given a few minutes to create an improvisational skit. The skit had to feature a traveling character, a detailed route, a mode of transportation and a surprise detour.

Spectacular Spectacles
Technical Challenge – “Breaking Point”
For this challenge, teams designed and built assembly equipment to create a stack of items, then engineered a device to destroy that stack. They also presented a story about a character who lacks something essential and attempts to gain it.
