Irving ISD is proud to announce that Singley Academy, Irving High School and Nimitz High School have been named CREST (Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas) Award recipients by the Texas School Counselor Association (TSCA) for the 2024-2025 school year. This honor recognizes exemplary school counseling programs that demonstrate an unwavering commitment to improving student achievement and well-being across academic, career and personal-social domains.

“I am so proud of our three campuses for achieving this honor,” says Irving ISD Director of Guidance, Counseling and College Readiness Julie Sobrea. “The counselors at these schools exemplify excellence in guiding students toward brighter futures, and their work stands as a model of how comprehensive counseling programs can transform lives.” 

This year marks Singley Academy’s third CREST Award and Irving High School’s second, highlighting the consistent strength and impact of their counseling programs.

The CREST Award evaluates counseling programs across five key categories:

  • Introduction to the school and the role of the professional school counselor
  • Program implementation cycle
  • Foundational components
  • Four service delivery components
  • Program curriculum
