Weather Alerts and School Announcements
When inclement weather creates unsafe travel conditions, Irving ISD may delay or cancel school. If a decision is made, families and staff will be notified as soon as possible through School Messenger via phone call, email and text.

Dress for the Weather
Students should dress appropriately and in layers for cold, rainy or icy conditions. Shoes with good traction are recommended to help prevent slips and falls. Please ensure your child’s clothing allows them to see and hear clearly so they can remain aware of traffic and their surroundings.
Bus Rider Safety Tips
- Stay 3 to 5 feet away from the curb as the bus approaches
- Wait until the bus comes to a complete stop before boarding
- During inclement weather, expect possible delays in bus arrival times
