For its exemplary record of leadership, service and activities that improve the school and community, the MacArthur High School student council has been recognized as a 2023 National Gold Council of Excellence by the National Student Council (NatStuCo). In addition, the council was named a Sweepstakes Council by the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC).
“The Mac STUCO are model student leaders on campus,” says Principal Natasha Stewart.
They are out front and center demonstrating respect, school spirit and servant leadership. I am honored to serve as the principal for such an incredible group of students. They have left their mark as Cardinals, and I am confident they will continue to do great things in the next phase of their educational journey.”
To earn these honors, MacArthur Student Council documented excellence in projects in the areas of Pride and Patriotism; Energy and Environment; Community Service; and Drugs, Alcohol, Safety and Health.
“MacArthur Student Council prides themselves on working closely with the student body, teachers, and administrators to create programming that increases Cardinal pride and serves the entire community,” says Emily Towler, student council advisor.

A student council must meet a variety of criteria to earn the National Council of Excellence Award. In addition to basic requirements such as a written constitution, regular meetings and a democratic election process, the councils must have demonstrated successful sponsorship and participation in activities such as leadership development and service to the school and community.
