At its regularly scheduled board meeting on December 16, the Irving ISD Board of Trustees approved two measures related to or taking effect in the 2025-2026 school year.
Calendar
Trustees approved the 2025-2026 school calendar, which includes:
- First Day of School: August 13, 2025 (mid-week start)
- Christmas Break for Students: December 22, 2025 – January 5, 2026
- Spring Break: March 16 – 20, 2026 (to align with Dallas College)
- Last Day of School for Students: May 28, 2026
- No early dismissal days

Singley School Start/End Time Change
After careful consideration of several factors related to district functionality, the Irving ISD Board of Trustees also approved one adjustment to school day start/end times impacting one campus, at the recommendation of district administration.
Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, school hours for Singley Academy will be adjusted to align with the other district high schools. The school day will begin at 8:45 AM and end at 4:15 PM, effective next school year.
The length of the school day will stay the same, and Singley Academy will continue to operate on an eight-period block schedule.
The change will streamline district operations and allow Singley students to receive additional instructional time and alignment for extracurricular activities at their home campus (i.e. fine arts, athletics, etc.).
