Irving ISD is proud to announce that five of our elementary schools have been awarded the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) grant for the 2025-2026 school year.

The grant, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered by state agencies, provides students with free fresh fruits and vegetables during the school day. The program is designed to introduce children to a wider variety of produce, promote healthier eating habits, and create a school environment that supports lifelong wellness.

The schools selected this year are:

  • Davis Elementary School
  • Thomas Haley Elementary School
  • Keyes Elementary School
  • Lee Elementary School
  • Lively Elementary School

“Wellness is one of our cornerstone initiatives in Irving ISD, and the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program is a perfect example of how we put that

commitment into action,” says Irving ISD Superintendent of Schools Magda A. Hernández. “By providing students with access to fresh, nutritious foods during the school day, we are helping them build healthy habits that support both their academic success and their overall well‑being. This program reflects our dedication to fostering a healthy, thriving school community.”

Through the FFVP, participating schools receive funds to serve fresh fruits and vegetables outside of breakfast and lunch times. In addition to offering nutritious snacks, the program encourages nutrition education and helps students develop healthier lifestyle choices.

Fruits and vegetables will be served at the selected five campuses on Wednesdays and Fridays, beginning October 3.
