District competition will look a little different for Irving ISD football, volleyball and basketball teams.

On Monday, the UIL released its updated list of district alignments. Irving ISD’s three comprehensive high schools – Irving, MacArthur and Nimitz – will move to District 7-6A with Dallas Jesuit and Richardson ISD high schools – Richardson, Berkner, Lake Highlands and Pearce.

“This is a game changer for us,” says Coach Clint Roddy, director of athletics for Irving ISD. “This levels the playing field, and I am excited for the opportunities for our scholar athletes.”

Irving ISD high schools previously shared the same district as Coppell, Hebron, Marcus, Flower Mound and Lewisville.

The UIL realigns districts every two years based on enrollment figures.
