Dave Campbell’s Texas Football teamed up with North Texas Honda Dealers to shine a light on influential individuals who are helpful in their local communities.
Thursday night, Steve Mainord, Irving High School coach and teacher, was honored with the Community Helper Appreciation Award. Representatives of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football and North Texas Honda Dealers presented Mainord the award before the start of the Irving vs. Jesuit football game.
“The award called for somebody that goes above and beyond the call of duty, someone who works in the background and never asks for recognition. Steve Mainord exemplifies that day in and day out,” says David Muñoz, athletic coordinator and head football coach at Irving High School who nominated Mainord for the award. “He coaches the kids hard, but loves harder. And that is evident in the way kids gravitate toward him – on and off the field, in and out of the locker room, in and out of the classroom. He is the first person that came to mind.”
Mainord has taught and coached for 41 years, 14 of those in Irving.
“I feel very honored and very humbled to have been nominated,” Mainord says.
As a part of this recognition, Mainord received a commemorative football and a special gift compliments of the Helpful Honda Team.
