Irving ISD is proud to introduce Canvas, a new, improved and easier way for students in kindergarten through 12th grade to complete and submit their work remotely.

So, what is Canvas?

Canvas is a Learning Management System. It is sometimes referred to as an LMS. Quite simply, Canvas is a one-stop-shop digital classroom.

The benefits of Canvas for students – and lets face it, for parents – are many. These include:

  • Viewing the student’s schedule
  • Submitting assignments, quizzes and daily work
  • Interacting with teachers
  • Tracking progress
  • Accessing all of the district’s digital resources like See Saw, Brain Pop, Smarty Ants, etc in ONE PLACE!

Canvas can be utilized by all students, whether they are an in-person or remote learner, making the transition between the two learning options seamless.

Because Irving ISD will begin with remote instruction, the district will begin utilizing Canvas on the first day of school, August 17.  All K-12 students will be required to log in to Canvas each day of remote learning as this is how attendance will be taken.

Students will log into Canvas at Learn.IrvingISD.net. Please note: The best internet browser for the Canvas platform is Google Chrome.

To access Canvas, Irving ISD sent each student a personalized email with their unique username and password on Friday, August 7. Returning students will use the same login information as they used last year to access their devices. You can change your child’s password at: www.IrvingISD.net/StudentPassword. If you need further assistance logging in, email techsupport@irvingisd.net and include the student ID and campus name.

In the coming weeks, parents will receive instructions to create their own parent accounts. Until then, parents can access Canvas through their child’s login.

Parent and student Canvas training modules and training webinars are available at www.IrvingISD.net/StudentCanvas in English and at www.IrvingISD.net/CanvasEstudiantes in Spanish. The webinars are scheduled for various times on Thursday, August 13. Check the website for a schedule.

Additional information about navigating your courses will be provided by classroom teachers.

By working together – parents, students and staff – the Canvas platform will make the transition from classroom to home seamless and provide for continuous learning.
