Schulze Elementary School was recently awarded the CREST (Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas) Award by TSCA (Texas School Counselor Association).  This award recognizes schools with exemplary counseling programs that demonstrate a commitment to improve the lives and achievement of students in academic, career and personal social domains.

CREST scores counseling programs in five categories:

  1. Introduction to the school and the role of the professional school counselor
  2. Program implementation cycle
  3. Foundational components
  4. Four service delivery components
  5. Program curriculum

“Irving ISD has great counseling teams. We are very proud of Alicia Rowland and Alejandra Gonzalez, new counselors at Schulze Elementary. They are truly dedicated to implementing the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs,” says Director of Guidance, Counseling and College Readiness Julie Soberanis.  “Thanks to Principal Linda Torres-Rangel for supporting her counseling team and to TSCA for this recognition.”

All CREST winners will be recognized during the annual TSCA conference which will be held in February in Round Rock.
